Your baby is now 7 1⁄2 inches long and weighs about 7 ounces.

As you approach the beginning of your fifth month of pregnancy, your baby’s senses such as hearing, taste and touch are developing rapidly. The kidneys are now making urine, and hair is beginning to sprout. If you are having a baby girl, she already has 6 million eggs formed in her ovaries.

Changes in your hormone levels can make your hair glossy and thick, or you might notice that more hair than usual is lost when you brush your hair.

Some women can develop patches of darkened skin, called chloasma, and you may also notice a dark line between your pubic bone and navel called the linea nigra.

Many women complain of dizziness as a part of their pregnancy, which is often caused by hypotension or low blood pressure. Whenever you lie down, your uterus
is putting pressure on the aorta and vena cava, major blood vessels in your body. The pressure on these major blood vessels is called supine hypotension. Supine hypotension can be alleviated sleeping in a side lying position. Postural hypotension occurs when you rise quickly from a sitting, squatting, or kneeling position. Gravity causes your blood pressure to drop which results in you feeling dizzy; this can be avoided by rising slowly
