Week 1 of Pregnancy.

The development of pregnancy is counted from the first day of the woman's last normal menstrual period, even though the development of the fetus does not begin until conception, which is about two weeks later. Nothing is happening to your baby yet, but be patient.

To have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, doctors recommend that you give up smoking and cut back on alcohol and caffeine. Women are advised to take folic acid supplements during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Would-be Mums and Dads should both make sure they are getting plenty of essential fats (omega 3 and 6), which are contained in oily fish, nuts and seeds.

If you are taking prescription drugs you need to check with your health care provider to see if these are safe to use during pregnancy.
